Capacity building expert (TL) for organizational development of DPOs (knowledge of Sinhala and Tamil)

The Bureau for Institutional Reform and Democracy (BiRD) is looking for an excellent senior expert as team leader for a short-term mission under the Lot 7 FWC in Sri Lanka.

Lot 7: Holistic support to DPOs and establishment of disability-related coordination platforms

Starting period: 01/01/2012 Duration: 60 w/d Location: Colombo, Sri Lanka Deadline for submission of CVs: 09/11/2011

Overall objective The overall objective of the project of which this contract will be a part is as follows: Contribute to strengthening the influence and capability of Disabled People Organizations (DPOs) as well as their capacities to support and represent their constituency groups.

Senior Expert: Team Leader – Capacity building expert for organizational development of DPOs Required profile: Qualifications and skills • University studies in Social or Political Sciences; an advanced University Degree being an asset. General professional experience • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in training organization and follow up, facilitation of coordination platforms, strengthening organizations' internal set up (organizational development and counselling), accrued in particular through working with the public administration and development aid donors and agencies. Specific professional experience • Preference will be given to candidates who have experience of working on disability issues • Particular experience in designing similar interventions in an International, South Asian or Asian context will be an asset • Demonstrated strong leadership and coordination skills • Excellent communication and reporting skills • Excellent written and spoken English, knowledge of Sinhala and Tamil.
