Programs Effectiveness, Accountability and Learning (PEAL) Coordinator– Learning & Development
The Programs Effectiveness, Accountability and Learning (PEAL) Coordinator - Learning and Development role contributes to the accountability and effectiveness of Caritas Australia’s International Programs and partnership by ensuring effective management of ANCP partnership, as well as, supporting the collection, synthesis and dissemination of program knowledge and learnings to promote continuous improvement to program quality and impact.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience for this role (selection criteria)
Essential
- Relevant tertiary degree or extensive international development experience, particularly in the area of program management, with strong focus on facilitation of design, monitoring, evaluation and learning
- Strong understanding of all aspects of program quality, the practical issues faced by program managers, and how program management processes contribute to achieving and measuring results.
- Excellent understanding of AusAID systems and policies in relation to NGOs
- Experience in supporting initiatives that promote learning, capacity strengthening and organizational change; and ability to develop a wide range of tools and approaches to promote new ways of working with different audiences.
- Strong facilitation using participatory adult learning methodologies, interpersonal skills and understanding of how these skills can be applied to planning, delivery and evaluation of cross learning activities
- Experience in managing government funding, including submitting proposals, reporting on and acquitting funds.
- Good understanding of current evaluation approaches and techniques for assessing outcomes and wider impact
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills, as demonstrated in the ability to identify opportunity for learning and development; and employ this skills in developing innovative approaches that promotes continuous improvement
- Excellent communication, both oral and writing skills in English, including the ability to convey ideas clearly and succinctly, write & edit analytical reports, facilitate discussions and stimulate critical thinking
- Demonstrable experience in staff coaching; providing advice, information and guidance; and is able to identify potential barriers and strategies for delivering the same
- Understanding of key cross cutting issues in programming and how these can be addressed in the planning, monitoring and evaluation stages of the program cycle
- Demonstrate good understanding of the Australian Council for International Development (ACFID) Code of Conduct.
- Demonstrable skills in working in teams and influencing others, including people from different backgrounds and cultures
- A strong focus on results – sets goals, plans and prioritises effectively, monitors quality and progress of work against plans and establishes high level of performance
- An understanding of and willingness to work within the Catholic ethos and a commitment to work within the principles and values of Catholic Social Teaching.
Desirable
- Awareness of EEO and equity issues in international development as well as Caritas Australia.
- Commitment to participate in OH&S initiatives in the workplace and foster safe work practices.
- Commitment to participate in initiatives that foster workplace relations (eg, Performance and Development Reviews, KPIs, staff meetings and workplace social events).
