Junior Research Fellow, Middle East& North Africa Programme
CGSRS aims to promote international relations (IR) from a realist perspective. We would like to explain current and emerging global/regional conflicts with realist theories, giving our audience an alternate source to mainstream ideas.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Functions may include but are not limited to the following:
  • Develops and generates new program ideas and partnerships
  • Assists with strategic planning of program
  • Assists senior staff in identifying donors and developing research proposals
  • Interacts with wide variety of individuals internally and externally, including funders, experts, partner organizations, government officials, etc.
  • Plans, executes and directs all program events and meetings
  • Conducts research, data analysis, and writes/co-authors policy papers, studies and reports
  • Provides significant contributions to the research agenda through writing, research, data/trend analysis and project development.
Required Experience
Knowledge, education and experience: 
  • Graduate student or recent Masters’/PhD degree recipient in International Relations, Political Science or region studies preferred, although any related academic area of study will also be considered
  • Demonstrable academic interest in Middle East and North Africa
  • Experience in conducting supervised or independent primary and secondary research
  • Academic English 
  • Enthusiasm and interest in academic research
  • Must possess strong interest in Meddle East& North Africa  foreign policy and related research;
  • Superior writing and analytical skills; Able to effectively present information;
  • Ability to operate under pressure and in a fast-paced environment;
  • Must possess strong communication skills including the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from constituency groups, media, governmental entities, and the general public;
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Candidates should possess sound judgment and impeccable integrity, positive attitude and creative outlook;
  • Experience with social media in a professional setting preferred;
  • Ability to interact with and respond to questions from a range of individuals with diverse interests, backgrounds and dispositions.
