Programs and Exchanges Assistant
Basic Function of position:
Job holder implements a diverse program of exchange programs and public outreach to support the Mission’s strategic goals. Public Affairs program activities aim to strengthen U.S.-EU cooperation, and the job holder assists with programming efforts to further a range of themes and goals important to the U.S.-EU relationship. The job holder builds on partnerships with EU institutions, think tanks, NGOs, and academic institutions to maximize program reach and resources.
Qualifications
Education:
University degree in the liberal arts.
Experience:
Minimum two years of professional experience.
Language Skills:
Fluency (level IV) in English.
Skills and Abilities:
- Must have the ability and personal and professional qualities to develop and maintain access to contacts in the EU, transnational educational and research organizations, and think tanks.
- Must have the ability to take initiative, and the administrative, organizational, and interpersonal skills to plan and carry out assigned projects efficiently and smoothly.
- Must be able to draft communications and reports in English, operate standard office equipment, and handle a variety of projects simultaneously with tight deadlines.
Job Knowledge:
Strong working knowledge of European Union organization, institutions, key personalities, and an understanding of EU policies that affect U.S.-EU relations is essential. Incumbent must also be familiar with U.S. government institutions and policymaking process as well as U.S. society and culture.
