UNICEF is funded entirely by the voluntary contributions of individuals, businesses, foundations and governments.Purpose of the PositionThe incumbent of this position will be accountable for working with partners to develop, manage, coordinate, implement and monitor an advocacy and communication strategy, and associated products and activities on a regular and on-going basis with public audiences, with the objective of supporting the vision and goals of the Global Partnership and Fund to End Violence Against Children, at both the global and national levels. The incumbent will also promote awareness, understanding, support for the attainment of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16.2 and other relevant targets. The incumbent will contribute to the cross-sectoral dissemination of learning, strategies and knowledge generated by the Partnership.Key Expected Results1. Communication strategy: The Partnership has an agreed communication and advocacy strategy and associated work plan to support promotion of its vision and goals in the public domain; to strengthen political will; and enhance the Partnership's credibility and brand. The strategy should include children and youth at every level.2. Media relations: Maintain and continually develop a contact list of journalists and media outlets covering all media – print, TV, radio, web etc. – and a successful process of communicating and maintaining regular contact and close collaboration with the media to communicate the story of the Partnership to a wider audience. New ways are identified to increase positive exposure and leverage that prominence for new opportunities for the Partnership.3. Networking and partnerships: Maintain and continually develop a contact list of individuals, groups, organizations and fora, whose support is essential to/can assist in achieving the advocacy and communication objectives of the communication strategy. Network is developed, strengthened and maintained with communication focal points among partners agencies at global and national levels.4. Celebrities and special events: The Partnership has a well-managed celebrity relations programme with a well-maintained and continually developed contact list of appropriate personalities who have been identified, engaged and support the Partnership's efforts and who actively participate in special events and activities that support the Partnership's goals.5. Global priorities and campaigns: The Partnership has an effective process in place for integrating and taking action on the Partnership's communications priorities, disseminating these elements among partners.6. Resource mobilization support: Fund-raising activities of the Partnership are supported by effective advocacy and communication strategy and activities.7. Learning and Knowledge Management: The Partnership has effective platforms and modalities to support learning and knowledge exchange among partners. Contribute specifically to the development of cross-sectoral communication strategies disseminating learning from related sectors.8. Management: Financial resources (budget planning, management and monitoring) for the communication and advocacy activities of the partnership and are both effectively managed and optimally used. Guide, manage and coordinate the work of consultants working on communication and advocacy-related areas on behalf of the Partnership.Qualifications of Successful Candidate.• An Advanced University Degree (Master's) in Communication, Journalism, International Relations, Public Administration or a directly related field(s) is required. A first level degree (Bachelor's) may be taken in lieu of an advanced university degree.A first level University Degree (Bachelor's) in a relevant technical field (as identified above), in conjunction with additional two (2) years of relevant work experience in public information, journalism, international relations, public administration and/or other directly related technical fields. may be taken in lieu of an advanced university degree (Master's).• A minimum of eight (8) years relevant work experience at the national and international levels in public information, journalism, international relations, public administration or a related area is required.• Previous hands on experience in a supervisory/managerial capacity is required.• Fluency in English (written & verbal) is required. Knowledge of French and/or Spanish is highly desirable.
