Expert Consultant - Finance and Corporate Policy for Farm Animals
FUNCTION
As a consultant to HSI/Europe you will help plan, develop and implement strategies aimed at ensuring the consistency of EU and Member States' international investment policy with the EU Farm Animal Welfare legislation. You will also be asked to support the global corporate campaigns of HSI by meeting with EU-based multinational food companies about adopting global policies for sourcing cage-free eggs and meat from pigs kept entirely in group housing. Your responsibilities include developing informational materials, organising events in the European Parliament, engaging with MEPs and/or relevant officials in the European Commission, building coalitions with stakeholders in the agricultural sector, outreach to media, ad meeting with multinational food companies.
PROFILE
- You are a Brussels-based independent consultant with 5+ years of public affairs experience and engagement in the EU policy arena;
- You have prior experience working on projects relating to finance/investment and/or international development;
- You have basic knowledge of EU Farm Animal Welfare legislation;
- You are able to work independently and you are results oriented;
- You have excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills;
- You are a quick learner and enjoy having to find innovative solutions to new problems;
- You care about improving the welfare of farm animals around the world; and
- You are willing to travel within the EU for corporate meetings twice a month.
LANGUAGE
You can speak and write fluently in English and French (fluency in additional EU languages are an advantage).
