Dolomon Islands Area Manager

The Area Manager will lead the implementation of Save the Children’s programme in the designated area/region, within the parameters of Save the Children’s Vision and Purpose, the Country Strategic Plan, Programme Plans and agreed objectives. The Area Manager is responsible for providing leadership for the overall quality, appropriateness and effectiveness of Save the Children Solomon Islands programs and operations as well as effectively represent Save the Children in a professional capacity.
The Area Manager is a member of the Senior Management Team providing input and leadership on strategic, management and operational issues and will participate in regular meetings to discuss the strategic direction of the country programme and the alignment with provincial programmes.
Highly developed relationship building & interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with a diverse range of people & stakeholders. Demonstrated leadership and team building skills and managing teams and individuals through periods of change Proven management and project implementation skills. Demonstrated analytical skills. Strong report writing ability, with a clear understanding of programme logic. Ability to read and interpret financial reports. Highly developed verbal and written communication skills. Ability to multi-task. Strong computer/IT skills. Fluency in English with willingness to learn Pijin in-country.
Previous experience of grants coordination. Previous experience of overseeing and supporting administration and finance systems. Proven understanding of multiple donor requirements. Training in M & E principles and implementation. Sound understanding and experience of the child rights approach to development.
