A WATER, SANITATION AND HYGIENE EMERGENCY COORDINATOR

Action contre la Faim (ACF) was founded by a group of prominent French figures in response to the emergency caused by Afghan refugees fleeing to Pakistan to escape fighting in 1979, with the aim of eradicating hunger in a more global, lasting and effective way worldwide. ACF’s mission consists of saving lives via the prevention, detection and treatment of malnutrition, in particular during and following disasters and conflicts. The organisation focuses its activities on an integrated approach, taking various aspects into account: “Nutrition, health and healthcare practices”, “Food security and livelihoods”, “Water, sanitation and hygiene” and “Advocacy and awareness-raising”. In 2009, ACF-International was active in over 40 countries, coming to the aid of around 5 million individuals. We are looking for A WATER, SANITATION AND HYGIENE EMERGENCY COORDINATOR: Based in Paris 14

Overall objective of the position : Under the supervision of the Head of the Emergency Team, you will be part of a 6-person pool.

You will work abroad for approximately 70% of the time in close cooperation with the Operations and the Scientific and Technical Departments: - taking an active part in ACF International Network’s emergency missions - carrying out exploratory missions and identifying actions that need to be taken - providing technical support to team coordinators working on the field.

Approximately 30%f your time will be spent in France working in close cooperation with the Logistics, Technical and Operations Departments, where your mission will be to: - develop and formalize tools in your technical field, both in situations of emergency and under normal working conditions - participate in drafting activity reports - participate in drawing up the expatriate training programme - represent Action contre la Faim during missions and meetings with the partners.

Responsabilities: Within this framework, you will be responsible for: o proposing the form that interventions will take and planning projects o implementing projects not only from a technical standpoint, but also aspects linked to organization, coordination and transmission of information o coordinating with other actors at local level o participating in the validation of emergency programmes, their quality and their follow-up o recruiting and managing a team of national and/or expatriate personnel o ensuring compliance with the Action contre la Faim Charter and with safety regulations o negotiating with local partners where necessary

Qualification and previous experience: Engineer, hydrologist, with three years of experience on the field in emergency situations Extensive experience on natural and/or political disasters especially in technical supervision of activities (ex: provision of drinking water, fight against cholera, water trucking, drilling bore holes and wells…) Thorough knowledge of security matters and team management. Ability to cope with stress Analytical skills, ability to capitalize upon experience, and to work in a team Bi-lingual French-English, Spanish an asset

Status: Executive level – Permanent contract

Annual Salary : Salary of 32,500 euros over 13 months, 20 days of extra leaves / year, restaurant vouchers of 8 € (60% covered by ACF), complementary health insurance (covered 80% by ACF), refund of 50% of public transportation fees
