Do you have an excellent understanding of the EU decision-making process and of EU issues related to building components and buildings? Do you want to take part in working for EU regulation that ensure affordable and sustainable buildings? Are you acquainted with the VELUX Group’s business and products or do you have a strong interest to learn about it?
Then you may be our new EU public affairs specialist based in Brussels, who will complement the rest of our Public Affairs team.
Your challenges
European legislation is of increasing importance to the VELUX Group, especially concerning energy efficiency, indoor climate, health and environmental issues related to the building industry.
Your objective is to strengthen our position at EU policy level including our dialogue with various European institutions and the broader EU stakeholder community.
Reporting directly to the Director of Public Affairs and Corporate Responsibility your primary tasks will be to:
- Establish, develop and manage a well-functioning EU office in Brussels. The EU office will be the centre for the VELUX Group’s engagement with the EU institutions and the stakeholder community;
- Develop and implement public affairs strategies at EU level focusing on selected policy dossiers including Energy Performance of buildings Directive, Energy Efficiency Directive, Circular Economy Package & Resource Efficiency and Construction Products Regulation;
- Monitor EU processes and stakeholders regarding selected dossiers and disseminate your knowledge to the VELUX Group;
- Develop and maintain a network of relevant stakeholders within the EU institutions and the VELUX Group;
- Prepare and communicate the VELUX Group’s positions (position papers, presentations etc.) based on prior research and dialogue with key stakeholders.
Another main task will be to represent the VELUX Group at meetings with EU institutions and stakeholder community. You will also support the VELUX Group’s strategic affairs focus areas working closely with the Public Affairs team at VELUX Head Office in Hørsholm (nearby Copenhagen, Denmark).
Mobility is essential and you must expect approx. 20-40 travel days per year mostly in Europe.
Your qualifications
You have minimum 5 years of experience with EU affairs (i.e. the European Parliament, Commission, Industry or public affairs agency), and you have an excellent understanding of internal EU institutional procedures and the EU decision-making process and you have profound knowledge of the wider EU political and stakeholder environment.
You have a master’s degree from university or business school, preferably in an area related to public policy, economics, communication or international relations, and you possess the ability to find effective ways to make the EU public affairs objectives beneficial to the VELUX Group.
It is an advantage if you also have understanding of strategic and EU regulatory issues in relation to building components and buildings in a broader sense.
As a person, you are outgoing with a dynamic personality and you possess the ability to work independently as well as in teams. You have a strong analytical mind set and excellent communication as well as interpersonal skills, and you are accustomed to using the various communication channels including social media.
It is imperative, that you are fluent in English both orally and in writing, and knowledge of other European languages would be a clear advantage.
