ICT Officer - Firewall Administrator, P-2, ICTD New York HQ

Purpose of the Position
Under the supervision of the ICT Specialist, the incumbent will manage Global Firewall and Antivirus Infrastructure, which covers all UNICEF field office sites and Headquarters Locations. He or she will also evaluate, test, and oversee Firewall Operating System and Policy changes; and provide 2nd level support during normal operations.
Key Expected Results
  • Manage daily operational requirements of Global ICT Perimeter Security environment (Firewalls & VPN Concentrators), as well as the global antivirus infrastructure. Provide security policy implementation support and advice to current and upcoming applications/systems/infrastructure SME's and support teams. On a daily basis, review and authorize firewall related change requests and work with Managed Security Services vendor on implementation of these changes. Provide support to ensure availability of Secure Remote Connectivity Services (site-to-site VPN's and client VPN's). Provide enhanced support during problems escalations and offices responding to Emergencies.
  • Coordinate with other units in ICTD, Regional/Field Offices, other UN Agencies, and external partners (i.e. vendors) with installation, integration and or changes to Global firewall and antivirus framework. Implementation and administration of Secured Tunnels (IPSec) to interconnect NYHQ with other UN entities to grant access to services required.
  • Provide 2nd level Global support for firewalls and Antivirus related issues.
  • Produce and Analyze Global Firewall exceptions reports, statistics, and traffic patterns. Identifying problem areas and potential attack vectors and recommending corrective follow up actions.
  • Enforce operational firewall policies, as directed by ICT Security Policy.
  • Qualifications of Successful Candidate
  • An advance university degree (Master's) in Computer Sciences, Information System Management, Business Administration, or a directly related field(s) is required. A relevant first-level university degree (Bachelor's), in combination with 2 years of additional relevant work experience, may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree (Master's).
  • A minimum of two (2) years ofrelevant work experience in operational administration and support of firewall systems, network problem resolution, network architecture, security architecture, Ethernet switches, routers, Microsoft / UNIX Operating Systems is required.
  • Fluency in English (written & verbal) is required. Knowledge of an additional UN Language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian and Spanish) is considered an asset.
