The Association of European Public Postal Operators (PostEurop) is the trade association that has been representing European public postal operators since 1993.
Its 52 members in 49 countries and territories collectively operate 175,000 retail counters, employ 2 million people and link 800 million people daily. PostEurop unites its members and promotes greater cooperation, sustainable growth and continuous innovation.
We are currently looking for a translator FR/EN for a duration of 6 months starting as soon as possible. The position offers an excellent experience to those who are interested in learning how the postal market evolves sustained by other business sectors with the cooperation of the European Commission support.
The placement will be in our offices in the heart of the European quarter in Brussels. The 6-months contract will offer professional experience and a vibrant working environment.
1.     JOB CONTEXT
The Interim Translator will be responsible for:
  • an accurate translation of all Headquarters documents, both in English and French, this includes all official documents produced by the Communications Manager (incl. publications Inside PostEurop, press releases, Announcements, Newsletters, Snapshots, Position Papers, Website updates…).
  • the translation of all documents/updates posted on the website.
  • the translation of the annual EUROPA stamps issues overview.
2.     PRIMARY OBJECTIVES OF THE JOB
The Translator under the supervision of the Communication Manager will be responsible for English and French translations of all documents related to the PostEurop activities. As the major part of documents requires to be translated into French, we expect the person interested in the position to have a perfect knowledge of French.
He/she will be responsible for editing of English and French documents when necessary.
3.    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
  • University degree (preferably Master’s Degree in translation)
  • Detailed oriented
  • Excellent Communications skills, in English and French, both written and oral
  • Organised and structured
  • Able to cope with strict deadlines
  • Team-oriented/people-oriented
  • Able to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and exhibit self-motivation (“self-starter”)
  • Analytical and creative thinking
  • Experienced in the postal area is a plus
5.    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
  • Full-time position at PostEurop Headquarters in Brussels (38 hours/week).
