International Media Organization Seeks Volunteers or Interns

The Institute for Media and Global Governance-IMGG/Media21 Global Journalism Network is seeking qualified volunteers or interns (professionals with humanitarian or media experience or undergraduate/grad students) for a minimum of three months from December 2011 or January 2011 onwards.

Candidates, who should be self-starters, will be expected to undertake research, social media and administrative support working with the director or editors and journalists involved with its partner projects. English required but other languages an advantage. These positions are completely voluntary and non-remunerated by the organization. However, volunteers can expect to gain good experience and contacts. The organization can also provide research/intern certificates for those coming from academic institutions.

As a Geneva-based non-profit organization, the IMGG/Media21 Global Journalism Network focuses on journalist workshops exploring key global issues such as climate change, human rights lifeline media, piracy and humanitarian and conflict zones (Afghanistan, Horn of Africa…) It is also developing governance-related initiatives seeking to promote greater public awareness and accountability in these areas. The IMGG works with various international partners, including media, UN/NGO humanitarian and development agencies.
