Pakistan
Since 1973, Oxfam have been working to improve the livelihoods of those living in poverty in Pakistan, and provide humanitarian assistance to people affected by disaster and conflict. We’re committed to finding long-term, sustainable solutions. And it’s to this end that Oxfam is rolling out a Single Management Structure (SMS), taking a more coherent, efficient and effective approach to our work not only in Pakistan, but across the International Oxfam Confederation and in each country in which we operate. In this hugely important role, you’ll be at the forefront of these efforts in Pakistan.
The Role
As the Oxfam Country Director for Pakistan under SMS, you’ll take overall responsibility for all Oxfam programmes in the country at a strategic leadership level – supporting the Country Leadership Team through a period of huge change and ensuring the continued delivery of a wide range of programmes.
It’s an exciting and high profile role in a complex environment. You’ll be dealing with pressures and challenges faced by your colleagues and partners and also building alliances and partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders including government officials, donor agencies and other NGOs, and representing all Oxfam’s work in both in Pakistan and across the region. What’s more, as a real force for positive change, you’llwork closely with the Country Leadership team to identify and negotiate new funding sources in support of our work, while aligning each programme with Oxfam’s wider strategic objectives. Put simply, it’s an opportunity to make a real difference to a country that is in dire need of the highest level of support.
What we’re looking for
The importance of this role can’t be understated. Which is why we’re looking for an inspirational leader with extensive experience of driving programme development and change management in both a humanitarian and development context. You must be a real strategic thinker who’s extremely results driven, but also someone who is sensitive to vulnerability related to politics, social security and extreme weather. Experience in working with NGOs and government institutions is important. As is the ability to represent Oxfam to partners, government agencies and donors at the most senior levels. From a practical standpoint, you must be adept at managing budgets. But above all, you’ll be a true leader who canchallenge, motivate and develop teams, manage relationships with internal and external multi-cultural stakeholders and successfully communicate complex change at every level. And, of course, you’ll have a genuine passion for the work we do with active commitment to promoting gender equity and the interests of marginalised people in all aspects of an organisations work
