Managers African Export Import Bank

The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) is a pan-African Multilateral financial institution established in 1993, for the purposes of financing and promoting intra and extra African trade. The shareholders comprise African governments, African and non-African public and private institutions. The Bank is headquartered in Cairo, Egypt, with regional branches in Harare, Zimbabwe and Abuja, Nigeria. Afreximbank is looking for intelligent, dynamic and committed individuals to fill the following vacancies:

SENIOR MANAGER, CORPORATE FINANCE & ADVISORY SERVICES: Reporting to the Executive Vice President (Business Development and Corporate Banking), the nature and scope of the job is to assist Management in the creation and operation of an appropriate investment banking and advisory services unit to support African entrepreneurs and governments in various trade and trade promotion facilitation activities. The scope of work includes various aspects of corporate advisory and investment banking services.

Job Requirements: In addition to at least 10 years of relevant corporate finance/investment banking experience in an international commercial environment, a good first degree in Economics, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or other related fields and a post graduate degree in the same fields or a relevant investment management, banking or accounting qualification (e.g. CFA, ACA, CPA) from a reputable University are required.

MANAGER, RESEARCH, PLANNING & INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION: Reporting to the Director, Research, Planning & International Cooperation, the job holder is expected to provide support for the Bank's strategic planning, economic research analyses and international cooperation activities as well as the monitoring of these activities on an ongoing basis, along with the preparation of the Bank's various publications for public use. The job also involves preparing various sector and country reports.

Job Requirements: In addition to at least 8 years of relevant economic research and strategic planning experience in an international commercial environment, a good first degree in Economics, Econometrics, applied Economics or other related fields and a PhD in the same fields from a reputable University are required.

MANAGER, BANKING OPERATIONS (LOAN ADMINISTRATION): Reporting to the Director, Banking Operations, the job holder is expected to provide back office support for the Bank's lending cycle. The key areas of focus for this role revolve around loan agency and management including loan administration and proper maintenance of client loan books, the maintenance of credit and collateral files, handling documentary credit and collection under documents and maintenance of appropriate correspondent bank relationships.

Job Requirements: In addition to at least 8 years of relevant loan administration and documentary credit experience in an international commercial environment, a good first degree in Banking, Business Administration or related fields and a post graduate degree in the same fields from a reputable University are required. A relevant professional Banking qualification may be considered in place of a post graduate degree.

MANAGER, BANKING OPERATIONS (AGENCY & SECURITY TRUSTEE): Reporting to the Director, Banking Operations, the job holder is expected to provide back office support for the Bank's syndicated loans lending cycle. The key areas of focus for this role revolve around facility agency administration, security agency administration and security trusteeship for all parties to syndicated loan structures in which the Bank is the Lead Arranger, in order to ensure efficient distribution, communication, impartiality and independence of the process.

Job Requirements: In addition to at least 8 years of relevant syndicated loans agency administration and relationship management experience in an international commercial environment, a good first degree in Banking, Business Administration or related fields and a post graduate degree in the same fields from a reputable University are required. A relevant professional Banking qualification may be considered in place of a post graduate degree.

MANAGER, CREDIT (SPECIAL PROJECTS): Reporting to the Director, Credit, the job holder is expected to provide support for the Bank's lending cycle through the Credit function. The key areas of focus for this role revolve around the assessment of the creditworthiness and risks associated with potential business transactions, using appropriate tools and models, with a view to providing mitigants to identified risks. This would be particularly for trade related project finance transactions, such as the Construction and Tourism Relay Facility (CONTOUR).

Job Requirements: In addition to experience of at least 8 years of assessing credit risk in complex project finance transactions in an international commercial environment, a good Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Business Administration or related fields and a post graduate degree in the same fields or a professional banking qualification.

MANAGER, BOARD SECRETARIAT: Reporting to the Executive Secretary, the job holder is expected to provide the required company secretarial support to the Bank’s Shareholders, Board of Directors, the President and Management. The key areas of focus for this role include all activities related to the management of Shareholder, Board of Directors and governance institutional matters, in line with the provisions of the Bank’s Treaty and Charter and best international corporate governance practice.

Job Requirements: In addition to at least 8 years of appropriate company secretarial practice, a good Bachelor’s degree in Law and a post graduate degree in the same field from a reputable University or a recognised professional qualification in company secretarial practice (e.g. ICSA) are required. The candidate must also be certified to practice Law in a recognised jurisdiction. Familiarity with the financial services industry is essential.

MANAGER, EXTERNAL COMMUNICATION: Reporting to the President of the Bank, the job holder is expected to spearhead the development and implementation of a communication strategy, and plans to support the Bank’s communication process with external stakeholders including shareholders, customers, partners and the media. The key areas of focus for this role are to act as the Bank’s primary public information disseminator, producing such items as press releases, corporate brochures, website news and publications updates, client communication, presentations, in addition to managing the Bank’s brand and image.

Job Requirements: In addition to experience of at least 8 years of appropriate experience with a leading organisation and demonstrated experience of communications strategy development and implementation, the candidate must have a good first and second degree in Communications, Journalism or related disciplines from a recognized University.

ASSISTANT MANAGER, FINANCE (SYSTEMS ACCOUNTING): Reporting to the Director of Finance, the job holder is expected to carry out various systems accounting maintenance and development functions in SAP, for the preparation of various accounting and statutory financial reports. This role acts as a conduit between the Finance and SAP team in the IT unit and any SAP Project Implementation team that may be in place as well as the wider business, to ensure the successful provision of financial information as required by the business.

Job Requirements: A good Bachelor’s degree and, either a post graduate degree, in a related field, or a relevant professional accounting qualification. The candidate is expected to have a minimum of 5 years’ experience within the financial services industry and knowledge of IFRS and related accounting rules. The Bank runs an SAP software platform and therefore experience with SAP or related ERPs is a requirement.

GENERAL JOB REQUIREMENTS Candidates must be fluent in either English or French, with a working knowledge of the other; while fluency in the Bank’s other official languages (Arabic & Portuguese) will be an added advantage. Candidates must have demonstrable success working in a multicultural environment, while work experience with leading financial institutions in Africa will also be a distinct advantage.
