Middle East and North Africa Communications Coordinator (Consultant)

Vital Voices Global Partnership is hiring a Middle East and North Africa Communications Coordinator to develop and mantain online and print outreach materials; perform content management tasks across a range of online properties; and help manage Vital Voices and program branding and messaging through a variety of mediums. This will be a full-time, 6-month contract position to start as soon as possible.

Responsibilities

  • Work as a key member and team player on the MENA team to produce engaging and effective content for regional programs' online portals and Vital Voices website on a daily basis
  • Build online brand awareness by managing content, look, feel and function as well as helping to drive external traffic to www.vitalvoices.org, www.menabwn.org, and social networking platforms by keeping sites fresh and current
  • Produce online newsletters, alerts and campaigns, and special feature content including interactive and other programmatic content: produce open/click-through rate reports and other analyses as needed
  • Participate in the daily maintenance of the Vital Voices website and program portals, including content updates, content management system maintenance and preparing assets for posting including photographs, videos, MS Word documents, PDFs and graphic images
  • Maintain integrity and quality of online content, including navigation, through ongoing review and maintenance, updating out-of-date content purging/archiving of expired content
  • Recommend and initiate use of technologies and improvements to operations
  • Lead the production of outreach materials with a range of audiences
  • Work closely with Vital Voices communications team on all projects


Qualifications


  • Preferably at least 2-4 years of experience working on non-profit or corporate communications
  • Experience using common content management systems such a Drupal
  • Experience using social networking sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.
  • Online production experience including newsletters, donations pages and e-mails working with eCRM solutions such as DemocracyInAction, Convio and/or Kintera, and Salesforce
  • Functional knowledge of HTML/CSS and PHP a plus
  • Basic Adobe Photoshop a plus
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to set priorities, work independently and attention to detail
  • Flexibility, willingness to take on routine tasks as needed, team player and positive attitude are necessary; ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
  • Knowledge of the MENA region, with strong preference given to experience living and/or working in the Middle East and North African context
  • Knowledge of French and/or Arabic strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of Search Engine Optimization and the use of tag words/lines
  • Proficiency in complete Microsoft Office suite required, experience with Adobe Creative Suite highly desired but not required (especially InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver).
