Barrick is headquartered in Toronto, Canada and has 27 mining operations with many advanced exploration projects located across 5 continents and a large number of tenements located on some of the most prolific and prospective mineral trends. 11 of Barrick’s mining operations are found within the Australia Pacific region, with its regional head office located in Perth, Western Australia.


Our Kanowna operations are seeking a keen and self-motivated Occupation Health and Safety Advisor. The successful appointee will report to the Occupational Safety and Health Superintendent.

Key responsibilities will include the promotion of the site safety system, involvement with the site Mine Rescue Team, shared responsibility for site first aid facility and health promotion.

Major accountabilities will include:
• Carry out procedures as directed by the O H & S Manager including safety and induction training, safety and health promotion and emergency response training and coordination.
• Carry out safety audits and inspection to support leaders in maintaining a safe work environment.
• Provide advice and support to site leaders and employees in the application of and compliance with OH& S policies and procedures.
• Provide first aid treatment in the event of injury or illness on site.
• Coordinate injury management and return to work programs and workers compensation case management.

You will require the following attributes to be successful in this role:
• Minimum of 2 years remote mine site experience in a similar role.
• Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety or progress towards same.
• Qualifications in Pre Hospital Care, Paramedic, Military medical qualifications or similar, or eligible for registration as a Nurse in WA RGN or Advanced practice EN.
• Current “C” Class Western Australian Drivers Licence
• Ability to effectively communicate with the workforce and the general community;
• Ability to work effectively within a small professional team;
• Advanced First Aid and life support skills;
• Excellent written and oral communication skills;
• Ability to Influence others to achieve best practice through own actions and words
