CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION ANALYST

African Barrick Gold’s Dar es Salaam office seeks to employ a qualified and experienced Criminal Investigation Analyst (Proactive Investigation Team), to form part of a team of specialists investigating allegations of serious misconduct and criminality across the ABG estate. Direction and control will be provided from the office of the MIG Investigations Manager via the Team Leader.

The position requires the incumbent to work closely internally with the Asset Protection Unit, on site Investigation and Security Managers and externally with the Police, International Review Team and Government Agencies.

The Proactive Investigation Team may be tasked by the Office of the General Counsel with discreet inquiries as the need arises.

KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Through the analysis of data, support proactive intelligence led criminal and other security related investigations.
• Identify potential information sources

• Support investigations as directed by the MIG Manager and the Office of the General Counsel.
• Support covert intelligence gathering operations.
• Provide high quality written assessments and reports.
• Contribute to site and regional training.
• Committed to abiding by and implementing the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights

PROFESSIONAL AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES

Education Requirements:
• Undergraduate degree or tertiary diploma in an Investigation/Intelligence related field

Experience Requirements:
• A minimum of 10 years practical experience in a crime related analytical role

• Experienced in the collection, management and dissemination of intelligence

• Experienced / qualified Criminal Investigator
• Experience of intelligence data / information management systems
• Knowledge of covert intelligence gathering techniques, including technical options and the management of informants
• Proven ability to turn intelligence into evidence through the intelligence cycle
• Experienced in large scale investigations and working in multi disciplinary inquiry teams
• Formal training and experience in the production of intelligence products
• Understanding of forensic science and it’s application in criminal intelligence
• Fluent in written and spoken English
• Understanding and/or experience in gold mining or extractive mining processes
• Kiswahili language skills would be an advantage
• Surveillance training would be an advantage
