The MENTOR Initiative is a “not for profit”, charitable, non-governmental organisation devoted to reducing death and suffering from malaria in humanitarian crises. The MENTOR Initiative is currently providing ongoing emergency support to the most vulnerable communities in Haiti, Liberia, Angola, Kenya, Somalia, the Central African Republic and Eastern and Southern Chad.

Job Description

Purpose of role: This role is to be the focal point within the organisation to develop and standardize the way in which the MENTOR Initiative presents itself and makes itself attractive to the public and stakeholders. Stakeholders include people who would like to work for the organization, research groups, donors, public or private organizations who may like to partner with us, establish links or build sponsorship opportunities with MENTOR. Particular emphasis would be to develop networks in order to establish sustainable student and graduate placement opportunities. This role would also need to have the skills to ensure and assure that the professional presentation of the organization is maximized at all times, this is required across all media and throughout the HQ as well as teams in the field. Additionally, this role involves human resources responsibilities from the identifying strong candidates through to the issuing of contracts. Therefore excellent communication and presentation skills are indispensable beside a technical ability to market the organization using all mediums available and seek out and capitalize on opportunities that arise. Standardisation • Continuous development of the brand strategy and standardisation of communication and presentation tools. • To ensure the development and usage of high quality power point and poster presentations for use in international and national conferences/meetings • Manage, develop and disseminate promotional materials • Ensure that all international team members are allocated an email account upon signature of their contract with the MENTOR Initiative. This includes instruction and support to team members regarding establishment and usage of their email accounts • Maintain and service the MENTOR Initiative email accounts with the service provider. • Coordinate standardised production of MENTOR clothing, posters, stickers and other standardised promotional/educational materials and shipping of these to country programmes. Showcasing the organisation Working with Programme Managers and other field and HQ team members, developing opportunities to showcase the organisation • To represent the organisation and be able to present technical information • Be the technical focal point for marketing and representational issues/ tasks • To develop a bank of lessons learnt, case studies, testimonials and photographic records • Attendance and representation at conferences and technical recruitment fairs • Management of logistical requirements for representation at conferences or other such events • Full responsibility to ensure regular updating of the website including job advertising, articles, county profiles and other time sensitive information • Responsible for the external marketing of the website and the organisation as a whole through new media outlets External communication for Human Resources support • Actively contribute to field and HQ recruitment needs assessment and target avenues to ensure the best candidates are sourced • Support Programme Managers with the administration of the recruitment process • Ensure respective line managers draft and approve TORs prior to advertising, that appropriate language and consistent formatting is used in line with the brand strategy • Advertising of positions on MENTOR website (to be updated regularly) and external channels • Receipt, response to and filing of all applications • Coordinate the screening and interviewing of candidates with respective line managers or programme managers • Issuance of contracts and consequent filing Building Opportunities • Cultivate links with commercial partners and producers of malaria commodities to enhance material donations for country and training programmes. • Foster public and private networks to expand financial sponsorship opportunities • Develop opportunities for research partnerships • Build relationships with academic institutions and other networks to support the flow of excellent quality candidates to work for MENTOR and to join the technical placement programme
