Development/Human Resources Assistant

(Full-Time)

New York City Outward Bound seeks a full-time Development/Human Resources Assistant to manage our donor and human resource databases and provide support to both departments. This hybrid role will give the successful candidate an opportunity to contribute to both our organizational fundraising efforts (which bring in over $4M each year), and to work with and support every department in the organization through their interaction with Human Resources.

Reports To: Assistant Director of Development/ Director of Human Resources

Specific Responsibilities:

Development

  • Manage Raiser’s Edge donor database including data entry, generation of solicitation/donor/invitation lists and running of revenue reports
  • Produce all acknowledgement letters; coordinate and manage other mailings as needed
  • Work with finance department to reconcile revenue and manage invoice payment/processing
  • Support other Development Department activities as needed, including filing and event logistics

Human Resources/Administration

  • Manage HRIS database, including entry of new employee information and generation of periodic reports
  • Assist with processing/onboarding of new hires, including background checks and necessary paperwork
  • Act as back-up to reception, including phone coverage
  • Support other Human Resources/Administration needs as necessary

Other/Organizational

  • Opportunity to serve on staff committees
  • Participate in and attend all staff events

Qualifications:

  • Strong facility with databases, software, systems, and technology
  • Ability to accurately manage data and solve problems within systems with an eye for detail
  • 1+ year of database experience, Raiser’s Edge and/or HRIS systems preferred
  • Two-year college degree minimum or three years of related experience required
  • Must have excellent organizational skills, with an ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively prioritize tasks
  • Commitment to accurate and high-quality work
  • Good judgment and the ability to handle confidential matters
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a variety of constituents (staff, donors, etc.)
  • Demonstrated commitment to our mission and organizational culture
