SENIOR LECTURER/LECTURER IN OPTOMETRY

Minimum Qualification
Postgraduate qualification in Optometry or Optometry-related field.

Experience/Skills
Considerable experience in a teaching/research institution in the field of optometry or optometry-related field, as evidenced by publications in refereed scientific journals. Preference will be given to applicants with research experience in any one or more of the following areas of sub-specialization:

• Visual Science/Visual Optics
• Anomalies in Binocular Vision
• Low Vision

Special Responsibilities
• This is a new programme and the selected candidate is expected to work closely with the staff in the Faculties of Science and Agriculture and Medical Sciences in providing quality leadership in teaching, curriculum development and clinical training in Optometry at the undergraduate level, as well as in the continuing graduate education programme
• The selected candidate is also expected to develop an active research programme and attract external research and development funding

Personal Attributes
Must be able to work in a team environment and possess strong public sector/private sector client service and client liaison skills. A good command of English is absolutely essential. Must be student-centred.
