Position Summary
KIMEP School of Law seeks applications from entry-level candidates with excellent academic records and demonstrated potential for outstanding teaching and scholarship, and applications from junior-lateral candidates possessing outstanding academic credentials, demonstrated teaching ability, and distinguished scholarship to begin in the 2017-2018 academic year.
Rank as either Assistant or Associate Professor of Law depends upon experience and is subject to faculty and university approval. Our hiring needs are flexible, though we have a particular interest in tax, corporate law/finance/banking areas (international), intellectual property, international trade (WTO),  Kazakhstan domesticate law in customs, labor, tax, administrative, environmental/energy law areas.
Candidates should demonstrate 1) a strong academic background, 2) a capacity for and commitment to excellence in scholarship, and 3) a capacity for and commitment to be an effective teacher and a willingness to spend time outside of class working with students. Applicants must include a cover letter indicating the area of interest and current curriculum vitae, and two references.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or JD in a law or related field from a recognized, accredited university, at time of application;
  • Fluent in English;
  • Record of on-going research engagement or strong publication potential.
Preferred Qualifications:
Applicants with track record of demonstrated competence in teaching face to face and on-line will be given extra consideration.
The School of Law
The School of Law has an accomplished faculty of 7 full-time and 12 adjunct faculty and two staff. The School of Law was established in 2010 and is the youngest college at KIMEP University. Its mission is to provide undergraduate (LL.B) and graduate (LL.M) education in national and international law, to prepare students to take leadership and management roles in the development of the business economy, legal practice community and civil society in Kazakhstan, Central Asia and the rest of the world.

Compensation
Rank and salary are competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Compensation after-tax compares favorably with net salaries in western countries. Limited on-campus housing is available to rent. In addition to salary, a benefits package includes basic healthcare, reduced tuition rates for KIMEP courses, subsidy for children’s school tuition and relocation allowance. New faculty members are provided with a reduced teaching schedule during the first semester. Summer paid teaching is typically available.
