Managing Director/Chief Economist

The Institute of International Finance (IIF) is one of the world’s largest global associations of financial institutions with nearly 500 members in 75 countries. We provide economic and financial analysis to our members, develop industry proposals on global regulatory issues, and represent our members in discussions with the public sector on global economic and financial policy issues.   
The MD/Chief Economist has primary responsibility for the development, coordination, and production of the Institute’s economic analysis. Among the MD/Chief Economist’s main tasks are to guide the IIF's economic research agenda and strategy,  lead the Institute’s team of economists, and act as the Institute’s lead spokesperson on the global economic outlook and other issues regarding the global economy and key countries covered by the IIF.  The MD/Chief Economist is responsible for developing new analytical products and services to help the IIF meet the needs of its membership and will be asked to represent the IIF at a variety of meetings, including those with senior executives of member and nonmember firms and with public sector officials and is therefore expected to bring a substantive knowledge of the financial services industry and economic policy issues.  As a member of the senior management team, this individual is also expected to collaborate closely with other senior managers and the Board and to contribute to the broader governance of the organization.  
Applicants should have a graduate degree, preferably a Ph.D., and at least 10-15 years of senior leadership in global macroeconomic analysis, preferably within the financial services industry or the international economic policy community. Applicants should also have extensive experience in developing innovative research products and conducting rigorous analysis. Other requirements include exceptional written and oral communication skills, excellent contacts with senior officials, strong client relationship skills, and an ability to be a flexible team player.
