General Manager - Legal Services: Africa
Outputs:
- Manage the legal affairs for the sub-Sahara Africa region.
- Ensure compliance with the Naspers group’s legal compliance policies.
- Manage any litigation and disputes.
- Liaise with and manage the external lawyers used by the various MAL businesses in the region.
- Advise the CEO on legal issues.
- Provide legal advice on day-to-day issues.
- Provide input to management on the competition sector regulations strategy.
- Manage any enquiry that flows from an investigation or complaint generated by the relevant Competition Authorities.
- Negotiate, draft and vet contracts.
- Support the M&A activities in SSA.
- Provide input on company strategy.
Requirements:
- B Com / BA and LLB or similar relevant degrees
- Admitted attorney
- 8 years post-admission experience at top tier law firm in commercial law or in the in-house legal department of a large corporate, where the candidate operated at the level sought for this position
- Experience / knowledge in dealing with Competition Law / Authorities
- Experienced in drafting various media-related agreements and general commercial agreements
- Experienced in commercial law / M & A issues generally
