Startup Specialists, Sub-Saharan Africa

Startup Specialists, Sub-Saharan Africa

We are currently seeking temporary Startup Specialists for an anticipated USAID-funded project. The project will have offices in 21 different countries and 18 of these countries will be in sub-Saharan Africa. The project goal is to reduce food insecurity among vulnerable populations. The anticipated start date is June and the positions are contingent upon ACDI/VOCA being awarded the activity.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish new offices, including identifying suitable office location, negotiating leases, overseeing possible repairs or upgrades, and establishing administrative and filing systems.
  • Procure office equipment such as computers and furniture, and establish services including telecommunications, e-mail, and utilities.
  • Assist with hiring local staff.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required, master’s degree preferred.
  • Prior USAID project management experience required, project start-up/close-out experience strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience in logistics, office operations, field procurements and hiring local staff is required.
  • Prior experience in sub-Saharan Africa is strongly preferred.
  • Must be a creative, proactive, quick-thinking problem solver.
  • Must have excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Fluency in English is required, French skills are preferred.
