Director, Technical Services Burnet Institute Centre for International Health

The Burnet Institute is seeking to appoint a highly experienced person to a key leadership position within the Centre for International Health (CCIH). The Director, Technical Services will be a member of the CIH senior management team and will work closely with the Centre Head to establish, implement and monitor strategic priorities.

The Burnet Institute has a unique status as a leading medical research and public health institute in Australia that is also accredited by the Australian Agency for International Development as a nongovernment organisation (NGO). We currently have a regional office in Bangkok and other country offices in China (including Tibet), Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar (Burma), Papua New Guinea, and Mozambique.

The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate the following:

  • significant experience and knowledge of international health and the development sector
  • high level leadership and management expertise as well as proven technical ability
  • superior negotiating and liaison skills
  • ability to identify and establish work, including those of major technical agencies and donors, and changing environment programs of international in a dynamic
  • ability to produce high quality policy materials and papers in peer--reviewed journals

Postgraduate qualifications in public health, health management, international development or a related area are expected.
