Job Title: Emergency Programs Coordinator, Global

Location: Based out of RI’s office in Washington DC and will require frequent travel to various countries,

Reports to: RI HQ Director of Humanitarian and Emergency Response

Position Summary: Under the supervision of the HQ Director of Humanitarian and Emergency Response, the Emergency Programs Coordinator serves as the Relief International (RI) field representative to gather crucial information in identifying needs and coverage gaps in humanitarian response. The Coordinator is an integral and critical member of RI’s Emergency team. Working closely with the staff, s/he assists in the promotion and administration of emergency relief programs, playing a leadership role in program development (including assessment, donor relations and proposal writing), program support and operations, communications and public relations for RI’s Global Emergency assistance.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: • The Coordinator will serve as the field focal point for RI's emergency assessment and response, and prepare reports based on a rapid desk and field assessment in-country, including data on IDPs and immediate needs.
• The Coordinator will identify program development opportunities and develop new proposals for expansion of RI’s emergency response programs. • The Coordinator will represent RI at appropriate coordination meetings, including cluster system meetings, as delegated by supervisors.
• The Coordinator will communicate with local governments and local and international non-governmental organizations at the field level to gather baseline and current data to evaluate the crisis situation, including past and current statistics on demographic, health, the local economy, etc.
• The Coordinator, when necessary, and in coordination with RI-HQ, should be prepared to share findings with donors and the humanitarian community.
• The Coordinator will assist in identifying potential local partners for RI and include a description of partner capacity in reports to RI-HQ. • The Coordinator should also be prepared to assist with the deployment of RI staff and/or the Rapid Emergency Response (RED) team, including assisting supply chain logistics, identifying office space and living quarters and transportation.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS: This position demands a dynamic individual with a demonstrated ability to achieve results in a demanding and fast paced environment. • Bachelor degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a relevant field of study • Minimum 5 years aid-related international experience in crisis zones; • Minimum 5 years in role as emergency program management for aid-related programming; • Demonstrated knowledge of grantee regulations and implementation experience of USAID, UN, EU and other major donor-funded programs. • Demonstrated record in collaborating with local governments, rural communities, other NGOs, and United Nations organizations • Excellent references reflecting demonstrated teamwork, maturity of judgment, tolerance for hardship and stress, leadership and integrity of character. • Ability to show initiative, multi-task and provide a consistently high output. • Knowledge of ICRC Code of Conduct and aid security policy is a plus. • Extensive proposal writing and cross-cultural training experience; • Strong English language communication skills; • French and/or Spanish languages is preferred; • Experience in emergency response, and ability to travel within short notice is a big plus.
