INTERNSHIP, JOHN D. ROCKEFELLER 3RD SCHOLARS PROGRAM
The Intern will support several emerging Winrock initiatives in Asia focusing on emerging agricultural technologies relevant to smallholder agriculture, and will have an opportunity to gain experience with project management and new business development by working on a variety of tasks. The intern will hone his/her skills by conducting research, coordinating outreach to government and private sector leaders and senior Indonesian and international researchers, editing and writing communication materials (success stories, reports), and helping to administer program activities, primarily in Indonesia.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist Program Officer to manage Winrock’s USDA Listening Series/Speaker Series in Indonesia:
- Communicate with Winrock’s Jakarta field office (emails, phone calls) to coordinate travel and events in Indonesia
- Develop and manage contracts for US agriculture experts who will travel to Indonesia
- Assist with tracking program activities and writing reports on the project to USDA
Assist in JDR 3RD Scholars Program activities in Indonesia:
- Conduct research to support fundraising campaign for JDR 3RD Scholars Program endowment and project teams, including research on potential corporate donors
- Reach out to alumni in Indonesia: update alumni contact information and provide guidance to Winrock Jakarta office on alumni meetings (location, logistics)
Assist in new business development for the Agriculture & Enterprise business unit, which may include the following tasks:
- Assist in proposal preparation and coordination to include preparing capabilities, tables and graphics
- Work closely with subcontractors to collect proposal materials
- Conduct research to support technical writers
- Format and edit CVs
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in team meetings
- Assist in other areas as needed
Qualifications
Education: M.A., M.S. or PhD degree related to agriculture, agri-business, or agricultural economics.
Experience: International experience (living, traveling, or working) preferred.
Skills: Analytical skills; research skills; ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks; excellent communication (written and oral) skills; computer skills including Microsoft Office, including Excel worksheets and PPT; second language preferred.
Other: Willing to take on a variety of tasks. Able to work well in teams and also independently.
