Program Coordinator

The SHINE AmeriCorps Program Coordinator will run a Health Literacy program at the Intergenerational Center, part of the College of Health Professions and Social Work at Temple University. This position is PT time (34 hours/week) and builds onSHINE's work to increase the health communication skills and healthy aging practices of immigrant and refugee elders and their families. Through the AmeriCorps program, intergenerational teams of college students, retired health professionals and older immigrants and refugees work together in three cities across the nation.

Reporting to the Director of SHINE, the program coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the local program in Philadelphia, including recruitment, training, on-going support of intergenerational teams of AmeriCorps members and leveraged volunteers, data collection and record keeping of the volunteers and their activities, and maintaining partnerships with community organizations. Duties include site visits, program coordination, member supervision and trouble shooting. The Program coordinator will also work in collaboration with SHINE’s staff team to support national program operations and develop best practices.

Essential Functions of this Position

  • Recruit, train and ensure effective on-boarding of AmeriCorps volunteers
  • Conducts outreach to strengthen partnerships with immigrant-serving organizations, health centers and faculty
  • Manage all logistics related to trainings and follow up
  • Maintain proper documentation in member files and conduct on-going file reviews based on grant requirements
  • Provides technical assistance to partners, conducts regular site visits and member training and development
  • Conduct member observations, develop IDPs and ensure 90+%retention rate of volunteers
  • Collects, synthesizes and presents data to write reports and evaluate program effectiveness
  • Oversees the maintenance of information entered into the database, tracks, reconciles, and monitors data.
  • Complete and disseminate weekly indicators, attend weekly meetings with supervisor to review indicators
  • Supports all project-related activities

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree with program coordination experience
  • Experience working with diverse communities, second language capacity preferred
  • Experience teaching ESL(English as a Second Language) preferred
  • Health education, health background preferred
  • Training, community organizing, partnership building and supervision experience preferred
  • Proficient in basic Word and Excel required; knowledge of Access and content management systems preferred
