The Ariel Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation South Africa (Ariel Foundation), a locally registered Section 21 Company, requires the services of a CEO/MD. AGPAFSA has been established as an affiliate of the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF).
The Ariel Foundation is positioned to assume responsibility for the implementation and management of the EGPAF's local programme activities. The CEO/MD will serve as a liaison to EGPAF to ensure strong collaboration and co-ordination of operational start-up.
Responsiblities: Board Administration and Support: • Participate on the Board as an active Director, enabling the Board to fulfill its governance function • Interface between the Board and staff, serving as a liaison between the Board of Directors and EGPAF to ensure strong collaboration and fulfill Foundation Principles and Standards for Affiliation Overall Management • Guide organisational development and capacity building activities for the organisation as it expands its size and breadth • In collaboration with the Board and Technical Adviser or designate, guide the overall programme strategy and implementation for HIV clinical services. Human Resources
Management: • Conduct training, staff development, recruitment and termination, succession planning and performance management for all staff. Administrative/Financial Management: • Establish rigorous financial, administrative and grant management · Ensure compliance with the EGPAF affiliate agreement and maintain the standards for financial, programmatic, administrative and grant management • Prepare and monitor organisational budgets • Conduct official correspondence and execute legal documents. Support: · Supervise the technical team in terms of targets and deliverables outlined in the Strategic Plan, donor agreements other programme commitments • Actively source funding.
Requirements: • 10+ years' experience in managing organisations and/or country programmes in South Africa • At least five years' experience in managing US Government grants and/or co-operative agreements • MD, MPH, MBA, or similar degree/education level • Proven experience in managing staff, including recruitment, staff development, training, mentoring and performance assessment • Demonstrated financial management experience, including the preparation and management of budgets and contracts, as well as the management of banking activities and relationships • Ability to travel as needed up to 40% of the time • Display the highest standards of ethical conduct • Excellent knowledge of programme activities, including HIV clinical service delivery, capacity building, and public health and programme monitoring in South Africa • Knowledge of principles and practices governing CDC, USAID and/or other US Federal grant programmes • Excellent strategic planning and IT skills.
