PSI seeks candidates for an Accountant GL & Payroll to provide support to PSIs global mission. This full-time position is based in Washington, D.C., and reports to the Manager of A/P and Payroll.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare monthly reconciliation and analysis for accrued and prepaid accounts.
Act as back-up support for the bi-monthly payroll process.
Accurately preparing, processing and recording of PSI payroll for approximately 300 employees;
Prepare payroll tax and information returns;
Prepare payroll and benefit related account reconciliations and analyses;
Organize payroll related schedules;
Work with Human Resources to develop management reports and make payroll changes;
Respond to employee requests for payroll related information;
Collection and completion of taxable allowances.
Assist in areas of annual audit and program audits as assigned; and
Other duties or special projects and analyses as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Accounting or related degree preferred or equivalent experience, CPA highly desirable
3+ years of job specific accounting experience; preferably within a non-profit environment;
2+ years of payroll processing is preferred;
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to effectively interact with senior management and individuals with varying degrees of financial knowledge;
Demonstrated proficiency with accounting, report-writing tools, and spread sheet software; and
Knowledge of international currency is a plus.
The successful candidate will have an interactive nature; willingness to learn and adapt to new concepts: ability to work in a fast-paced environment; must have the ability to multi-task; strong analytical and problem solving capabilities; attentive to detail; and excellent organizational skills: be a team player.
Preference will be given to candidates with exposure to Lawson. Fluency in a foreign language is a plus.
