The Center of Social Enterprises, Yiriwali So, is a center for the study and creation of social enterprises based in Bobo Dioulasso, Burkina Faso. A social enterprise is a company that makes money but does not distribute dividends, so as to pursue a social objective. The company's profits are used for developing society and improving the range of products and/or services. Company performance is measured by the positive impact it has on rural residents. Yiriwali seeks an experienced manager to lead this center.
Job Description: The manager of Yiriwali So is responsible for the development, creation, coordination and promotion of social enterprises. He reports directly to the executive committee of Yiriwali So and works with business managers. The objectives of the social enterprises are to develop the rural areas around Bobo Dioulasso. Two activities are already being developed: agricultural and social enterprises for women based on the production and sale of shea.
Profile: Candidates must first be entrepreneurs motivated by the impact of their activities and the development of the rural poor. We offer a concrete opportunity for the best candidate to develop and promote his/her leadership in business while working for a noble social cause. A social enterprise is first and foremost a business that is profitable and has concrete sustainable goals of financial and social performance measured with respect to business-related players. The challenge will therefore be creating social enterprises in a difficult environment while finding the best compromise between financial income and social impact. Candidates must be convinced of the merits of social enterprises and carry them out through village leaders and members. The ideal candidate will have experience in business management. Experience in an African country is a plus, as well as proficiency in French and possibly Dioula.
Qualifications: Graduate of a business school or engineering school. An MBA is an advantage. At least 5 years of professional experience in business. Candidate must have excellent communication skills and experience in staff management in a multicultural environment. The candidate will have demonstrated qualities of project management and strategic analysis. French desired, English and Dioula are advantages.
