Summary of position:
Under general supervision of an officer and working as part of a team, provides multi-tasked support services to the Immigration section. Communicates and assists clients to understand the immigration application process/requirements and enable their compliance. Monitors, tracks and analyzes applications and identifies shortcomings at various stages, records, updates and verifies information in departmental information systems. Makes recommendations on applications to officers based on established legislation and policies. Manages correspondence in the office and decides on appropriate action, drafting routine correspondence to client and other stakeholder enquiries and/or referring the issue to an officer, as appropriate. Arranges and participates in meetings, both internal and external, and/or provides logistical support for events. Accesses departmental information systems to support information gathering for the processing of applications. Translates and interprets written and verbal information as required.

This position is open to individuals, Spouses/Dependants of Canada-based staff who are eligible to work in Tanzania and current LES employed in the immigration section of the High Commission of Canada in Nairobi who are eligible to apply and who meet all of the essential requirements stated below, and whose applications are received by the closing date.

Essential qualifications:
Education:
A degree or diploma from a recognized university or post-secondary institution or an *acceptable combination of education, training and experience may also be considered.
*Acceptable education, training & experience are defined as at least 5 years of continuous experience working in a related field.
Language:
• Fluency in English (oral and written).
Experience:
•minimum of three years of recent* work experience in an office environment with a focus on general administration and client service in a medium to large size organization.
• Demonstrated* experience dealing with the public both in person and through written correspondence.
* Demonstrated/Recent experience is defined as within the last 2/3 years.
Knowledge:
• Knowledge of general office procedures and practices
• Knowledge of text preparation and formatting, handling correspondence, letters, e-mails and filing
• Knowledge of software packages: Windows, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel

• Ability to prioritize, plan and to organize workflow
• Ability to learn and use new software
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines

• Previous work experience with Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) either domestically or overseas, is considered an asset.
• Proficiency with CIC file processing software (GCMS) is considered an asset.
