We seek qualified candidates for the following position:

Research Associate
Location: Nairobi

To develop, implement and manage programmatic, behavioral and social sciences research studies in close collaboration with senior research staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manages aspects of planning and implementing program and social sciences research.
  • Contributes to study protocol development; designs data collection instruments; develops and manages work plans, project timelines, subcontracts, and budgets; analyzes data; trains and supervises research assistants; and prepares reports, papers and presentations that summarize research findings.
  • Conducts studies to help program managers identify and implement solutions to improve reproductive health and HIV prevention programs and services, and conducts evaluations to determine the effectiveness of such efforts.
  • Provides technical assistance to help program managers and service providers use the results of research to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of reproductive health and HIV prevention programs and services.
  • Collaborates with FHI colleagues both in Kenya and internationally on program and social sciences research.
  • Serves as a resource person to other FHI staff in Kenya by providing support for program and social sciences research.
  • Prepares reports and papers for submission to professional journals and meetings.
  • Assists in designing, developing, and implementing strategies and program activities that contribute to the utilization of FHI research.
Position Requirements:
  • MS/MA/MPH with 3-5 years experience as a social scientist or intervention researcher, or BA/BS in relevant field with 5-7 years relevant experience in research.
  • Relevant computer skills necessary to conduct research and analysis of study data with a working knowledge of qualitative and quantitative data analysis packages.
