Gold Fields is the world's fourth largest gold producer with attributable production of 3.6 million gold equivalent ounces per annum from nine operating mines in Australia, Ghana, Peru and South Africa. Gold Fields also has an extensive and diverse global growth pipeline with four major advanced stage projects with construction decisions expected in the next 12 to 24 months. Gold Fields has total attributable gold equivalent Mineral Reserves of 77 million ounces and Mineral Resources of 225 million ounces. Gold Fields is listed on the JSE Limited (primary listing), the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), the NASDAQ Dubai Limited, the Euronext in Brussels (NYX) and the Swiss Exchange (SWX).

The South Africa Region of Gold Fields is the bedrock on which the company is built. With Mineral Resources of 174 million ounces (inclusive of WWTTP and Uncle Harry's) and total Mineral Reserves of some 60 million ounces, Gold Fields holds the dominant position in the famous Witwatersrand Basin, the most prolific gold-producing region in the world. The Witwatersrand Basin is home to Gold Fields' famous Driefontein, Kloof and Beatrix Gold Mines, as well the developing South Deep project. These mines remain key contributors to Gold Fields delivering on its vision of being the global leader in sustainable gold mining.

Senior Manager: Employee Relations

The Senior Manager: Employee Relations is responsible for the strategic development of the Employee Relations function for the Gold Fields SA Region. The incumbent will be required to take full ownership of this area of business to ensure the attainment of the Gold Fields vision to be the global leader in sustainable Gold Mining.
The appointee should have a relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources Management or Labour Law, be professionally registered with SABPP and have sound knowledge of the Labour Law and CCMA rules and procedures. This must be supported by a minimum of 15 years' proven managerial experience in the Employee Relations field in a unionised environment and the ability to understand and make decisions within the broader Human Resources and business processes. A postgraduate qualification in Human Resources or Labour will be advantageous. We require an assertive person with proven negotiation skills, as well as problem-solving and conflict resolution at advanced level. He/she will have knowledge of wage agreements and other collective agreements in the industry as a whole and will be able to manage changes in business practices within restrictive periods of time. The ability to accommodate the culture and values of the organisation and a drive for performance are also needed.

Duties and responsibilities include: * Undertaking regional projects as identified * Building a motivated and unified performance-driven team that will be able to meet the future requirements of the Group * Assuming custodianship for the Employee Relations function of the SA Region (4 mining operations) * Providing thought leadership and executive decision support * Offering technical assurance in respect of Employee Relations for the SA Operations * Managing internal and external stakeholders and relationships to ensure delivery of the Employee Relations strategy.
