JOB SUMMARY
First Place for Youth is seeking a highly accountable individual that strives for the relentless pursuit of excellence for the position of Youth Advocate. The selected candidate will work closely with the Regional Manager to support youth, ages 17-24 years old, who have aged our of the foster care system and are participating in the My First Place supported housing program. The Youth Advocate provides case management based support in the areas of employment and education, housing, health, relationships, and overall connection to resources. The candidate must possess the ability to think strategically, act with enthusiasm and courage, and possess strong communication skills while working in a fast paced – outcome driven environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Conduct one-hour weekly meetings with My First Place supported housing participants to help participants identify and accomplish short and long-term goals.
•Partnering with participants, develop creative ways to practice and strengthen their independent living skills, coordinate with referral agencies, identify community resources, and track participants’ progress.
•Conduct one-hour monthly roommate meetings to ensure that household bills are being paid, chores are shared evenly and to address concerns and conflicts that may arise in participant’s 2-bedroom household.
•Help participants move into My First Place supported housing. This includes helping youth secure and transport furniture, shop for home necessities, and locate resources in their new community.

QUALIFICATIONS:
•BA required. MSW or other graduate degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling degree preferred.
•Minimum of three years experience providing direct services to youth.
•Must have a dependable car, valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
•Experience with the foster care system.
•Requires skill in service delivery, scheduling, documentation, & report writing.
•Requires excellent communication, sound judgment, and interpersonal & organizational communication skills.
•Requires computer proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and the ability to communicate via email.
•Experience motivating youth, with good facilitation skills.
•Strong clinical skills.
