Education Planning Adviser – Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea – AusAID

In 2011, AusAID commenced a new program to support the PNG education sector. This support includes direct financing, procurement, scholarships and technical assistance. A major focus of technical assistance is the provision of high quality capacity development to the Department of Education to help sustain the gains the Department has recently made towards achieving Universal Basic Education.

The Educational Planning Adviser will advise and support the Government of Papua New Guinea at national and sub-national levels in educational planning and management. The Educational Planning Adviser will supplement and facilitate the capacity of the Department of Education in these areas, through providing direct support and capacity building to the relevant sections.

To succeed in this role, you will have:

• At least 5 years successful experience working in educational planning and management with a department/ministry of education in developing countries • Demonstrated understanding of educational planning, including modeling of school census data • Demonstrated experience in operational budgeting, planning and reporting in government agencies in a developing country context • Understanding and experience in capacity development approaches including professional development, mentoring, participatory training and facilitation.
