Action for Enterprise Program Management Position
Action for Enterprise (AFE) is a leader in the field of private sector development for fighting poverty. A nonprofit organization, AFE has experience in 25 developing countries and more than 35 value chains. AFE implements cutting edge field programs, provides technical support to development organizations, conducts state-of-the art training, and authors innovative publications in the field of private sector, market and value chain development.
AFE’s mission includes:
- Implementing programs that promote growth, efficiency and competitiveness of industries resulting in increased benefits and sustainable impact for individuals and small businesses.
- Being a leader in training and generate/share knowledge that forwards learning in the enterprise development field.
- Providing technical assistance to other development organizations and practitioners to improve their ability to implement effective market development programs.
AFE is recruiting a mid-level development professional (with a passion for sustainable private sector development) for a HQ position. Specific responsibilities for this positionincludes:
- Technical Assistance: conducting program design, technical support, and monitoring and evaluation activities focusing on value chain, market, and private sector development
- Training: preparation and delivery of training programs in value chain, market development, and private sector development approaches
- Business Development: assistance in proposal development, contacting prospective donors, marketing AFE programs and services
- Backstop: supporting field programs including logistics, identification and preparation of consultants, response to requests, etc.
- Market Research: identifying potential markets and buyers for developing country products, collecting background information on targeted markets, competitiveness surveys, etc.
- Travel: Position requires up to 35% travel
Additional qualifications for this position:
- At least three years experience implementing enterprise development programs in developing countries
- Major in Business or Economics (masters preferred)
- Strong interpersonal communication and writing skills
- Excellent computer skills, especially in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong organizational skills, ability to multitask and manage teams
- Additional languages (especially French) and training experience a plus
