Chief ICT Officer – Operations and Support

The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) is a State Corporation under the Ministry of Roads established by the Kenya Roads Act, 2007 with the core mandate of management, development, rehabilitation and maintenance of all public roads in the cities and municipalities in Kenya except where those roads are national roads.

The successful candidate will report to the Manager (ICT).

Job Summary

The job holder will deputize Manager ICT and coordinate all ICT functions of KURA Regional offices as well as carry out research in emerging technologies and advise the Authority accordingly.

Key responsibilities

  • Carrying out research on new technologies in the market which can be utilized by the Authority.
  • Providing technical assistance to Systems Analysts and Programmers on fine tuning of applications systems and computer networks.
  • Ensuring that the security and controls in the ICT infrastructure are working as required.
  • Liaising with vendors of ICT services to ensure proper maintenance and repairs of ICT equipment.
  • Coordinating ICT functions for KURA Regional offices.
  • Leading project teams during implementation of ICT Projects.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Bachelors’ degree in Computer Science/IT
  • Five (5) years relevant experience three (3) years at a senior level in a busy ICT environment.
  • Professional qualifications in ICT such as MCSE.
  • A Member of a relevant professional body.
  • Hands-on knowledge of database systems such as Oracle/SQL and Windows Server environment is desirable.
  • Good communication and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge on IT Project management and systems analysis.
  • Hands-on knowledge of internet technologies, programming languages, networking technologies and ERP Systems.
