The Compliance and Privacy Officer (CPO) holds a law degree and is fluent in both English and Spanish. The successful candidate must have significant compliance and data protection experience within an international law firm and/or regulatory experience followed by an in-house legal or compliance role, ideally in the financial services sector.

Description of the vacancy

As a senior lawyer based in Brussels you will serve in the critical role of Compliance and Privacy Officer (CPO), responsible for managing and delivering the European compliance programme and strengthening and broadening the company’s EME compliance and ethics programme in a highly dynamic and sophisticated environment created by significant international growth. This will include identifying critical issues and risks, defining gaps in compliance, implementing remediation measures, formulating appropriate policies and procedures, and promoting a culture of compliance and ethics throughout the region. The CPO will also be responsible for managing and leading all data protection matters in a European and global context. You will provide a leadership role and work with the company’s senior executives across Europe.


Profile

* You hold a law degree;
* You are absolutely fluent in written and spoken English and Spanish;
* You have significant relevant experience in compliance and data protection in an international law firm and/or regulatory experience followed by an in-house legal or compliance role, ideally in a financial services organisation;
* You have the technical expertise required, the ability to anticipate and quickly correct potential weaknesses in a compliance, privacy and ethics programme and have a strongly developed awareness for cultural and diversity issues;
* You demonstrate strong leadership skills, such as a strong sense of integrity, a keen business acumen, strong people skills, project management skills and the ability to execute successfully.
