Deputy Chief Financial Officer World Vision

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Deputy Chief Financial Officer (DCFO) is a key supporting role for the Chief Financial Officer and assists the CFO in managing the Financial Planning and Analysis function, and the Financial Reporting Service Center in Manilla. The position also plays a key role in the development and maturation of financial forecasting and planning systems at the Global Centre and at the National Office level. In addition, the position provides a key interface between various other parts of the global finance function and the financial reporting and forecasting infrastructure, including but not limited to Global Treasury, Field Finance and Operations, and the Corporate Controller’s office.

The position also provides an interface between Global Finance and other Global Centre functions such as People and Culture, Global Supply Chain Management and Fleet management in so far as providing linkages with systems (such as the PCIS system in P&C) and initiatives in those areas and either the National Office or Global Centre finance functions. This role functions as the “right hand” of the CFO and is heavily involved in strategic, budgeting and planning activities.

The Deputy Chief Financial Officer will provide the leadership and direction to ensure the development of relevant financial information, and timely financial budgeting and planning and financial reporting for senior leadership, the WVI board, and key stakeholders around the partnership. The Deputy CFO will assist the CFO in managing and controlling the organization’s financial processes, making the necessary changes to upgrade and improve process, policies or procedures, and develop his/her team.

The DCFO will ensure alignment with the mission, core values, partnership policies and strategies of World Vision and will champion the financial and ethical integrity of World Vision’s ministries, serving as an effective leader of responsible change. And, he/she will ensure accountability and compliance with applicable legal, governmental and regulatory requirements.

The Deputy CFO will also undertake special projects at the direction of the CFO in areas of financial systems development, Global Treasury, Vision Fund (World Vision’ Microfinance entity) and other areas to be determined.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Ensure the financial infrastructure is stable and supports the demands of future growth.

•Proactively challenge the organization to a faithful stewardship of resources, striking a God-honoring balance between the constituents we serve: donors who provide resources; those in need who receive resources; and our employees and other partners who deliver resources.

•Establish reporting, monitoring, and accountability systems that will ensure highest standards of financial integrity are being attained. Protect the assets entrusted to the organization; ensuring liquid assets are invested productively and in alignment with World Vision’s investment policy.

•Help provide strategic analysis and support to the resource allocation process of the Partnership. Ensure that resources are aligned as designated by donors, and that maximum benefit is realized by those we serve.

•Collaborate with a wide range of Partnership employees from differing cultures, using effective communication and influencing skills to gain support for positive change initiatives.

•Build the global financial team by attracting and retaining gifted people who are called to serve World Vision.

•Attend and participate in the leadership of daily devotions and weekly Chapel services.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

•An undergraduate degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or Economics (or international equivalent).

•MBA and/or C.P.A (or international equivalent).

•Evidence of professional accomplishments external to work life.

•International work experience or exposure.

•Treasury and currency exchange management experience.

•Experience working in US Federal Government, EU or other national finance, policy or humanitarian agencies of non-US governments.

•Experience in major international accounting or management consulting firm or multinational firm is required.

•Large not-for-profit organization or experience with global companies or organizations.

•Understanding of and belief in a federal model of organization, which requires leadership to be collaborative and consultative.

•Senior leadership in strategic financial management.

•Banking or micro-enterprise experience would be an advantage.

•Strong general management capabilities
