Environmental Health Group Business Manager

The Environmental Health Group seeks a self-driven, results-oriented person with a positive outlook and clear focus on high quality outputs, to contribute to the work undertaken by its world class academics. EHG researches into the impact of sanitation, hygiene and water problems on the health of people in developing countries, and seeks solutions.

A mature and credible approach is required, as is the need to be able to work sensitively with academic staff and funders. The role holder will be able to demonstrate reliability and tolerance, whilst showing determination, particularly in problem solving.

The Environmental Health Group manages several multi-million pound programmes, as well as small to medium research projects and consultancies. The Business Manager is a key contributor to the success of these projects. The role would suit someone who is well organised, proactive and flexible, and is used to a varied and extremely busy environment. As a manager you will be able to steer the team whilst allowing for individual development within it. You will be able to respond to the needs of others and ’muck in’ when necessary at the same time managing your own work load. You will be able to see how to achieve the short term goals whilst keeping in mind the mid to long term objectives.

The Environmental Health Group provides a flexible and dynamic environment, with staff who are committed to supporting its members and developing their skills. You will supervise the EHG Administration and Finance team (currently 5 staff) and provide coaching in administrative and financial matters as necessary. The role holder reports to the DfID-funded SHARE Research programme CEO. http://www.dfid.gov.uk/r4d/SearchResearchDatabase.asp?ProjectID=60737
