PRINCIPAL SPECIALIST: LEADING PRACTICE ADOPTION


The successful candidate will ensure the completeness and integrity of the Leading Practice Adoption System through quality assurance, provision of sound functional support, project management, project consulting, knowledge building, team building, people management services, falls of ground noise, dust, transport and machinery.

Key performance areas include: ● Project managing the activities of Adoption Teams, which document leading practice in the field ● Analysing occupational health and safety data to identify pockets of excellence
● Establishing and operating a Community of Practice for Adoption and a detailed data-collection baseline protocol ● Presenting and promoting achievements through reports, conferences, worksheets and documentation ● Assisting with planning and scheduling of stakeholder meetings and workshops ● Keeping abreast of research and development trends and policies to guide leading practices for adoption ● Identifying and managing Adoption Team trainees, including conducting performance reviews, coaching and handling disciplinary actions.

Qualifications and competencies required: ● A postgraduate degree in Health and Safety, Occupational Hygiene, Mechanical Engineering, Rock Engineering, Mining Engineering or Project Management ● 8 - 10 years' experience in the mining environment with exposure to health and safety, project consulting and engineering ● Technical, legislative and programme management expertise ● Computer literacy and language profi ciency ● Research, analytical, advisory, people and leadership skills ● Self-assured with the ability to stick to the right path
even though it may be unpopular or lead to confl ict. (Ref. 74001/1)
