1. JOB PURPOSE

• To increase uptake of SRH and HIV services by young people through networking and advocacy actions.
• To ensure that the integrated proposals submitted to the Global Fund have a strong youth component.

2. KEY TASKS

1. To contribute to IPPF SARO’s advocacy project on ‘Building Momentum for Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) and HIV Integration’
2. To support coalition building at the national level in South Asia Region (SAR) among Member Association (MA) national youth networks and SRH, HIV and youth groups in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Iran, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka to ensure integration of SRH and HIV services and programmes are aimed at young people and reach those most in need of services in a youth friendly manner
3. To facilitate coalition building between IPPF MA youth networks and local Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) working with young people to ensure that Country Coordination Mechanism (CCM) proposals in SAR are youth friendly and integrated (SRH HIV).
4. To support capacity building of IPPF SAR youth networks, MAs and local CSOs on youth-friendly SRH/HIV integration services.
5. To work with the MAs to train / build capacity of the youth volunteers to be advocates and leaders, with particular focus on advocacy with CCMs
6. To coordinate and handhold advocacy activities by youth volunteers at MAs
7. To document the processes and advocacy activities conducted by SAR youth networks
8. To work collaboratively with other youth networks, on advocacy initiatives, building and developing networks and partnerships.
9. To build and maintain positive working relationships with all members of staff, and contacts both within and outside the Federation.
10. To take overall responsibility to build capacity of the national youth networks to become strong advocates of SRHR and integration
11. To undertake any other reasonable duties as may be requested from time to time.
12. To undertake the above tasks in collaborations with other relevant staff members at SARO and MAs.

3. EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
• Graduate qualification (social science, communications, public policy, PR, etc.)

4. PROVEN ABILITY
Minimum level of professional experience required to do the job.
• Five years experience, working on advocacy-related initiatives and campaigns, preferably with young people, SRHR, HIV and related issues. Regional experience is essential.

5. SKILLS
• Excellent interpersonal skills - articulate and diplomatic. Ability to interact with diverse groups.
• Good understanding of development issues around SRHR and HIV.
• Sound knowledge of Global Fund mechanism and the role of young people in it.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills to meet multiple deadlines.
• Fluent in English and other language(s) spoken in the South Asia Region
• Good IT skills – ability to use MS Office.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

6. PERSONAL COMPETENCE

• Willingness to travel internationally – approximately 50 travel days a year

Annual gross salary for the above position is Rs. 6,48,000.
