Sr. Director, Government Operations American Red Cross
Job Summary
Provide leadership and program direction to Red Cross units, and relief operations engaged in planning, readiness or relief activities in relation to local, state, or federal government. Responsible for developing and managing ARC National Headquarters relations with federal agencies involved in disaster related activities. Partners with appropriate business unit leaders to implement and execute relief activities. The Director of Government Operations also develops processes for implementation and use across all ARC relief operations. Provides best practices advice and counsel to senior leaders and/or government officials.
Responsibilities/Tasks
• Provide programmatic leadership, staff development, direction, documents, training, metrics and other resources to support Red Cross Disaster Services activities and goals relative to Government.
• Work with key internal and external government officials in the development of grant procurement.
• Provide leadership and ensure disaster services execution on responsibilities under Memorandums of Agreement with FEMA and other federal agencies
• Oversee effective government coordination during disaster events, and ensures consistent delivery of programs.
• Maintain effective and positive relationships with disaster related federal officials and federal departments
• Represent the ARC at high level federal meetings, congressional briefings, and other forums.
• Develop and implement short and long-term strategies to integrate priorities into the overall organization business plan; manages the execution of those strategies.
• Evaluates effectiveness of programs to ensure progress is being accomplished toward overall program objectives. Makes recommendations and changes as necessary.
Qualifications
• Bachelors degree (or equivalent work experience) in Business, Management, Social Services or other relevant discipline.
• Minimum 10 years related work experience, preferably in Government or non-profit.
• A minimum of 5 years Supervisory/Management experience required.
• Demonstrated success with designing and implementing relief operations programs across a variety of organizations (profit, non-profit, or government).
• Success in analyzing and diagnosing readiness and relief programs.
• Ability to obtain a government security clearance may be required.
