TB Project Coordinator Comitato Collaborazione Medica (CCM)

Somalia - Somaliland, Puntland, South and Central Zones

The position of Zonal TB Project Coordinator will be covered by a Medical Doctor.

The duties and responsibilities relative to such position are as follows:

• Conduct monitoring and evaluation visits of TB centers using checklists and other tools designed and/or endorsed by the TBCT. The number and location of the TB centres to be monitored on a quarterly basis will be worked out with the Country Coordinator on the basis of a fair distribution of the workload among the three TB Project Coordinators.
• Work in close collaboration with the MoH counterpart (NTP) in the implementation of M&E activities.
• Coordinate supervisory visits to TB Centres with supervisory activities of laboratory as far as possible.
• Give effective and efficient solution to potential problems arising in the day-to-day running of the project.
• Conduct on-the-job training of clinical staff on DOTS implementation, TB diagnosis and treatment, patients follow up, TB/HIV collaborative activities, data collection and recording, production of reports.
• Prepare monitoring and evaluation reports on each TB centre visited during the reporting period. The report will use the specific template elaborated for the purpose and include the technical inputs provided by CCM –Italy Laboratory Supervisor. The final reports will be transmitted to CCM Nairobi office by the 7th of the month following the end of the Quarter.
• Elaborate an overview report of the TB programme implemented in the respective area of responsibility.
• Elaborate on a monthly basis a narrative report on activities implemented in relation to the TB programme.
• Participate to all information-sharing and coordination meeting related to the TB control programme organized at zonal level.
• Participate to TB Management team meeting and TB Quarterly review workshop in Nairobi, when requested by the Country Coordinator.
• Ensure regular communication with the Country Coordinator / Country Liaison Officer via e-mail, mobile telephone and satellite telephone.
• Perform any other professional duty that may be requested by the Country Coordinator in relation to the CCM – Italy programme in Somalia.

Specific activities:

• Elaboration of a tentative supervisory schedule jointly with the NTP Officer and endorsed by CCM – Italy Nairobi office and World Vision.
• Ensure that partner organizations in the field are informed on the dates of the visit.
• Assess the performance of the TB centre using the supervisory checklists designed and/or approved by the TBCT.
• Respond to emerging training needs by organization of formal training sessions and/or on-the-job training in the TB Centres.
• Share the main findings of the supervisory visit with the personnel in charge of the TB centre; discuss and agree the way forward to improve performance of the TB centre;
• Urgent matters and main action points regarding the TB centre need to be reported to CCM – Italy Nairobi Office as soon as possible via e-mail.
• Complete and submit the reports in electronic format to CCM – Italy Nairobi office as soon as the Laboratory component of the supervision is transmitted by the Laboratory Supervisor.
• Ensure friendly and appropriate relations with partner organizations, counterparts, community members and any other relevant stakeholders.
• Respect and adhere to host organizations’ rules and regulations while working or living in their premises or using their facilities and resources.
• Ensure appropriate utilization and proper handling and care of project assets under their responsibility (IT equipment, satellite phones, stationery etc.).
• Meet all accountability and budgetary requirements requested by CCM – Italy administration.
• Follow the security recommendations given by CCM – Italy Nairobi office

Qualifications

The candidate should be a Medical Officer
Experience in TB/HIV Control Programs
Ability to work in volatible and unstable conditions
Somali speaking candidates will have an added advantage.
