Verio has an opportunity for a Network Engineer III in Boca Raton, FL. This position reports to the Manager of Network & Security Engineering.

Performs complex network engineering support. Takes escalations from customers and other business departments. Assists lower level engineers. Works on projects as directed.

This position is a hands-on technology position requiring technical expertise to effectively support Verio's technology functions.

Requirements

Special Skills

Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, physical science, or related technical field.

5-7 years of experience in network engineering/operations.

5-7 years of experience with IT/Hosting in a server farm infrastructure environment preferred.

Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills.

Ability to work under limited supervision and required to train or mentor other personnel.

Excellent Critical Thinking Skills, Interpersonal and People Skills, Listening Skills, Multi-Tasking Ability, Oral and Written Communication skills to effectively interact with senior management, subordinates, external clients and a team environment.

In-depth knowledge and extensive hands-on experience with a full range of layer 1-7 technologies and protocols (advanced layer2; redundancy protocols, advanced OSPF, BGP, and other routing protocols, advanced layer4-7 load-balancing, security, content management, and other technologies).

Experience working in large-scale datacenter/LAN environment.

In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in Cisco routing and switching equipment and technologies (hardware/software, full/advanced configuration, advanced troubleshooting)

In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with networking equipment and technologies of other vendors (Juniper, Brocade, F5, Nortel, Nokia, Checkpoint, and/or other).

In-depth knowledge of Visio/CAD programs to create detailed physical and logical network diagrams.

Highly proficient in TCP/IP protocol suite, DNS and IP space management.

Highly proficient in Datacenter/Site management, including power, cabling, and rack management.

In-depth knowledge of ticketing systems, monitoring and network management tools, and experience with operational deployment of such systems

Ability to program in PHP, Perl, Unix Shell, Expect, and C and automate routine network management tasks. Other programming languages and database administration skills a plus.

Ability to manage and coordinate projects involving multiple resources according to established deadlines.

Highly proficient with multiple operating systems (i.e.: FreeBSD, Solaris, Linux, Windows, Virtualization, etc.), including advanced network configuration and protocol stack tuning.

Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

ISP network experience is a plus.

CCNA or higher certification is a plus.

Cisco Nexus 1000v experience is a plus.

Advanced system administration skills and knowledge of other operating systems a plus.

Experience in Security Certifications a plus. (ie: CISSP, HIPPA, SOX, ISO27001, PCI, etc.)

Experience with Fiberchannel, iSCSI, NFS, & FCoE Storage Network Devices is a plus.

Experience with server, storage or IO virtualization technologies is a plus. (ie: VMware, Hypervisor, etc.)

ITIL certification is a plus.

Fluent in Japanese is a plus.

Multi-lingual is a plus.

Duties

Assists project manager and others in building acceptance of new proposed system modifications, methods, and procedures. Conducts and provides complex cost/benefit analysis for new proposed system modifications, methods, and procedures.

Assists with various Special Projects as directed.

Assists with the design, development and deployment of new technologies, services and underlying network infrastructure.

Handles Tier-III support requests for complex technical problems and high-severity outages from other network engineers and business departments. Performs complex network engineering support and advanced troubleshooting. Works with network equipment and software vendors to resolve defects and other technical issues.

Assists with the development of service specifications and internal standards to adapt to evolving technology and business needs. Participates in development of technical training and documentation for network operations and support staff.

Assists with the testing and certification of new network hardware and software products and solutions.

Assists with physical and logical network design, advanced configuration and maintenance of routers, switches, switch-routers, load-balancers, content-delivery devices, firewall/security devices, and other types of networking equipment.

Coordinates and executes critical network operations, such as: critical maintenance, migrations, adjustments on the edge with backbone, technology changes/additions in datacenter networks, hardware/software upgrades.

Analyzes utilization information and participates in network capacity planning

Develops tools to support on-going network operations.

Must be available to participate in group's on-call rotation.

Mentoring and training team members on technical issues.

Domestic and International travel to Verio & Customer sites may be required.

Flexible to work on holidays if unavoidable work situations arise.

Performs other duties as assigned.
