Linux-Admin/Messaging Engineer II

  • Define, test, deploy, and support messaging tier hardware infrastructure

  • Performs development and testing of IT solutions

  • Participate with business units in the analysis of businessprocess/ information flow and the creation of appropriate decision support systems to support such

  • Provides leadership and mentoring on technical activities with an active sense of ownership in the process and deliverables

  • Participate in production support and on-call rotation

  • Consults with users in departments including accounting/billing, sales/sales support, marketing/product development, customer care, and other functions to understand and gather user requirements

  • Reviews and evaluates current messaging systems and makes recommendations for solutions, performance tuning, and other ways to optimize messaging applications

  • Develops, maintains, and administers database applications

  • Conducts performance tuning and analyzes messaging system capacity issues

  • Administers, maintains, develops, and implements procedures related to the security and integrity of the messaging system

  • Analyzes, troubleshoots, and resolves issues related to messaging system in a timely manner

  • Maintains and modifies Unix shell scripts

  • Acts as liaison or point of contact with development, management, systems operations, vendors, and other groups in key decisions

  • Serves as second or third-tier for messaging system administration and supports development efforts

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements


  • Extensive technical experience supporting messaging technologies (ldap, smtp, pop, imap, content filtering, etc.)



  • Extensive Unix/Linux Experience



  • Strong knowledge of security network protocols.



  • Experience supporting Open Source messaging and/or group ware solutions (ex. Zimbra) A strong familiarity with networking technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, SNMP, SSH, SMTP, LDAP, etc Advanced knowledge of x86 server hardware and raid configurations Knowledge of storage technologies, including (NFS, SAN, NAS, FC, ISCSI)



  • Knowledge of Intranet, web browsers, and creation/support of web Sites.



  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, including the ability to analyze business information needs and the ability to design and build systems to satisfy such.



  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a cross functional team, including assuming a leadership role. Ability and willingness to serve as an "expert" resource for other members of team.
