ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT UNWOMEN
Grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, UN Women will work for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. Placing women’s rights at the centre of all its efforts, UN Women will lead and coordinate United Nations System efforts to ensure that commitments on gender equality and gender mainstreaming translate into action throughout the world. It will provide strong and coherent leadership in support of Member States’ priorities and efforts, building effective partnerships with civil society and other relevant actors. The Evaluation Office (EO) is an independent division directly under the Executive Director’s Office and its work is guided by the Norms and Standards of Evaluation of the United Nations Evaluation Group (UNEG). The role of the EO is to undertake independent evaluations of the work of UN Women in its different programmatic, normative and institutional areas to assess the processes and results produced by the organization, to generate evidence on the relevance, efficiency, effectiveness, sustainability and impact of the strategies and programmes on gender equality and women’s empowerment, and to inform decision making at the highest levels of the organization. It has a double role of accountability and learning. In addition, it is responsible for building evaluation capacities within the organization in order to contribute to evidence based programming, and to promote gender equality in UN system-wide evaluation. The EO is composed of a central team based in Headquarters, and a decentralized team of regional evaluation specialists posted in the regions who provide evaluation support to the field offices and to the corporate evaluation processes.

The creation of UN Women came about as part of the UN reform agenda, bringing together resources and mandates for greater impact.
