The advertised positions are for the Burnstone Mine, situated 80km south of Johannesburg, close to the town of Balfour. Burnstone Mine will be built on modern infrastructure to service mining activities, using specialised equipment and technology to enhance safe production over the life of the mine (which will exceed 19 years as part of Phase 1 of the project). Remuneration will be competitive and future increases will be performance based.

SENIOR SURVEYOR


Your mission will be to ensure that up-to-date survey plans are available, and this will be achieved by conducting monthly and quarterly surface survey work in order to update the plans. You will meticulously gather survey information, capture data on the MRM system and ensure that survey plans comply with legal requirements. It will be up to you to establish survey controls, conduct engineering surveys and carry out basic surveying and calculations in quarries. Gathering information pertaining to the required measurements and determining the precise location of the work area to be measured, you will update mine plans with measured faces as well as maintain the survey filing system. You will be expected to report any mining non-conformances to the responsible person.


We are seeking an appropriately experienced and qualified person for this role, therefore you should possess a COM Advanced Survey and Valuation Certificate and 3-5 years’ survey experience in a mining environment, including surface survey work. Knowledge of computer operating systems as well as MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), Microstation and MRM is essential. You should be capable of performing basic fire-fighting and basic first aid, and understand the importance of following basic health and safety practices underground.
