Whizz-Kidz is a national children’s charity providing disabled children and young people with essential mobility equipment, enabling them to lead increasingly independent lives. The charity was founded in 1990 and is continuing to transform the lives of disabled children and young people throughout the country.
Through the provision of mobility equipment, wheelchair skills training, life skills workshops, work placements, and campaigning Whizz-Kidz offers children and young people the chance to gain skills and increased confidence - making a tangible difference to their lives and the lives of their families.
The Campaigns Manager is responsible for devising and delivering a programme of campaigns, events and projects which seek to influence national policy and practice affecting disabled children and young people.
The post holder works to increase the general public’s awareness of the importance of early and appropriate support for disabled children, and is responsible for driving forward the charity’s Fast Forward campaign. This campaign seeks to recruit and mobilise a broad base of supporters as champions of disabled children and the need to improve NHS provision for young wheelchair users.
The Campaigns Manager is supported by the Young People’s Campaigns Officer who leads on activities and projects which empower young disabled people to formulate and deliver campaigns which influence policies and services at a local level.
The post holder facilitates the All Party Parliamentary Group for Paediatric Mobility Reform and works closely with young people, supporters and colleagues to ensure child mobility is high on the agenda of government and service providers.
Excellent working knowledge of parliament and UK government structures as well as experience in public affairs and/or communications in Government/Parliament and/or agency or a campaigning organisation are a must!
